Zondervan welcomes Rev. Dr. David McNutt as the new senior acquisitions editor for Zondervan Academic

Zondervan today announced that Rev. Dr. David McNutt will join the company as Zondervan Academic’s senior acquisitions editor. He will start his new role on May 15, 2023.

McNutt joins the company from IVP Academic, an imprint of InterVarsity Press. During his nine-year tenure, McNutt developed nearly 200 titles including award-winning books by: Hans Boersma, Mark Noll, Peter Leithart, Beth Felker Jones, Jeremy Begbie, Robert Romero, and others. He also oversaw several series including the 30-volume series Reformation Commentary on Scripture, Studies in Christian Doctrine and Scripture and Studies in Theology and the Arts. McNutt is also an Associate Lecturer of Core Studies at Wheaton College and an ordained minister.

“I could not be more excited for David to join our team. He brings together a combination of experience in Christian academic publishing, higher education, and ministry that uniquely positions him to help grow our publishing program,” said Katya Covrett, vice president and publisher of Zondervan Academic. “I look forward to seeing David’s contributions in the coming years.”

In his new role, McNutt will acquire and develop new authors for the imprint’s portfolio in his areas of expertise.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Zondervan Academic! I look forward to continuing its tradition of publishing Christ-honoring resources for both the academy and the church. I'm particularly excited about working with world-class authors to bring titles in theology, philosophy, and related fields to our readers,” said McNutt.

McNutt holds a PhD in Divinity from the University of Cambridge, with an expertise in systematic theology, as well as several other advanced degrees: a MLitt from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland; a MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary; and a BA in Religion from Pepperdine University.
